pt’movement and the GYROTONIC® Method.
pt’movement integrates knowledge and experience. We take a deeper look at how and why your body functions the way it does, then build custom treatments and training sessions to help you better understand the way your body works and moves.
The GYROTONIC® Method is a unique series of fluid exercises that open energy pathways, increase range of motion and strength, and improve movement efficiency. The GYROTONIC® Method is fit for any age and fitness level, and focuses on the entire person rather than focusing on the rehabilitating movement of one body part.

We are both experienced GYROTONIC® practitioners who believe that by combining our individual skill sets and a mutual fascination with movement, we can transform patients’ rehabilitation experience.
I’ve always been passionate about movement. My path started back in Ukraine, where I studied physical education and sport, and started to teach fitness classes. Today, I have more than 15 years’ experience in fitness and Pilates instruction, and I continue to learn about body movement to serve my clients.
When I discovered GYROTONIC® training, I found that it allows me to treat the entire body through movement and energy flow. My clients trust me to create a personalized exercise or workout plan that will bring the long-term results they are looking for. I help them better understand their body and teach them how small changes in the way they move can make a huge difference in the way they feel.
In my practice, I have worked with a wide-range of clients–from MS patients and people suffering from chronic pain, to dancers and active seniors.
I would like to acknowledge the owners of Pilates North Studio, Lisa and Rachel Schklar, for the opportunity to be a part of their wonderful team, for their trust and belief in me, and for sharing their knowledge and skills. I know what I know because of them and these role models have always supported me in my journey.
I would also like to acknowledge Align Health Centre and the owner of the clinic, Dr. Sanderson, for giving me the opportunity to introduce the centre’s community to the innovative GYROTONIC® system. It is such a pleasure to work alongside this group of healthcare practitioners.
Many people are led to believe that when you are having muscles or joint pain, you can simply take a pill and you will feel better. But my research and studies have shown that movement is the most effective approach to treating such pain, because it treats the symptom at the root cause. I’ve spent much of my career developing a toolbox of different movement methods designed to treat a vast array of health conditions.
I started my career in Russia, where a physiotherapist is recognized as a medical doctor who specializes in physiotherapy after completing medical school. I completed my PhD in Physiotherapy and Sports Medicine in Saint Petersburg Medical University I.P. Pavlov. While I was working on my thesis, I discovered a passion for “Western” physiotherapy and quickly realized this is the philosophy I wanted to build my practice around.
After my immigration to Canada, I further supplemented by education with a Master’s Degree in Physiotherapy from Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario. Now, I have been practicing in the field for over 15 years. Every day, I feel grateful for the opportunity to treat my patients with the science of movement.
I first discovered Gyrotonic® Method when I took my Gyrotonic® course at the Rheintalklinik in Bad Krozingen, Germany with physiotherapist Paul Horvath in 2000. Then I re-introduced Gyrotonic ® Method into my practice in Canada in 2014. This tool has been instrumental in helping me explain functional movement to patients, and in teaching them how to achieve their treatment goals efficiently.
I appreciate the variety of challenges I face every day in my work. I specialize in the musculoskeletal system, and my primary focus is human movements. When you think about it, movement is what differentiates the living from the dead. When we are healthy, we move with ease and grace, when we are sick, our range of mobility suffers.
I would like to acknowledge both Queen’s and Saint Petersburg Medical University; these are places where I not only gained my knowledge, but also developed the ability to think outside the box and use an evidence-based approach to treatment.
I would like to thank my first mentor in physiotherapy, Joan Scannell, who taught me to work efficiently but to never compromise the outcome of a treatment. I appreciate my time working with rheumatologist, Dr. Lisnevskaia, who expanded my knowledge and experience in differential diagnosis of a variety of autoimmune diseases, hypermobility, fibromyalgia and chronic pain.
I am grateful for the opportunity to work with Dr. Sanderson, who instantly recognized the benefits of the spinal motions in Gyrotonic® Method, found a place in Align Health Centre for a pulley tower, and continues to refer her patients to Gyrotonic ® exercises.
